PONED!

According to Internet Slang.com PONED is an acronym for  "Powerfully owned, dominated."
Sammy got PONED today by his brothers.  If my Tyler loses it ... especially at Sammy... then it is well deserved.

I stopped at the grocery store that is minutes from home.  I was gone 5 minutes.  Max came in with tears in his eyes say Sammy was choking him and put him on the ground.  This is the video my Max took of the PONING.  Yes, I am driving.  Yes, I was looking for cops, prepared to say, "Just book 'em."  (Really we were 2 seconds from home... )

This is life with boys.  This is life with my boys.  This is a audio visual of my son getting poned by his brother! lol

This short blog post is dedicated to my social media guru, my brother, www.rajkumardixit.com.

Big One and Little One...

Today was Josh's trip to the sugarbush.  I was planning on going with him.

Sammy made the Junior Team for hockey in high school.  Today was the big tournament for them.

Last night Sammy asked me if I could come to his game.

Here's the thing about teens.   They are growing up.  They are seeking independence.  Yet they still are in need of their parents.  I am so glad he asked.

Josh was not impressed.  He still isn't impressed.  Yet he will get over it.  If you look up baby in the dictionary, you will likely see Josh's picture!  Life is really all about him.  His brothers cater to him.  We forget he is going to be 5 years old (tomorrow) and continue to take his lead as baby of the family.

Going to Sammy's game was quite an experience for me.  It was a whole new world.  Our boys play on the  city teams.  Well, the church teams.  Sammy is a very talented athlete.  He just excels in the world of sports.  He is a great player.

Yesterday, when I walked into the arena, the game had just started.  I found myself holding my breathe the whole game!  (Quite a talent, I know)!  The boys on the teams were huge!  Not only were they bigger than big but they were rough!!!  Wow.  I was scared.  My Sammy was one of the smaller players.  I found myself praying that God would keep him safe.   Intense.  Rough.  Hockey. Yikes.

All was well and Sammy was exhausted.  I am proud that he was able to hold his own.  I am not sure I want him to try out for the high levels.  At least not until he puts on a 100 more pounds and grows a few feet!

This was the day of my biggest and littlest.  How so alike and different they are!  They are like the book ends of our family!

The Lesson...

Usually the hardest part of my day is from 3:15 pm till we get home.  It is usually filled with meltdowns, excitement, complaint, tears and request for food of the unhealthy variety.

The greatest thing that worked for me was to put a movie on to distract and occupy their minds till we got home.  The dvd in the van has been out of commission for a bit.  Well, longer than a bit and seems to stay on my to do list.

Today was not a real exception to the rule.  I had three home from school today fighting the bug that bite them.  Sammy was the first stop.  He made brownies in his food class.  He is proud of himself.  He hands some out to his brothers and all that is left is a bag of crumbs.  Here's the thing, I don't know how much he consumed himself but as his antics escalate I realize that he has had more than he can handle.  My son, my oldest, whom I love dearly, has an allergy to sugar.  OK, it may not be an official diagnosis but if you are around him a short time after he has inhaled sugar, be warned.

He is off the charts.  He has little control of his behaviour.  Today he was just plain funny.  As we were leaving Sanj office (so he could check Zach's ears), Sammy said he needed to go to the bathroom.  I told him to just want till we were at the school to pick up the boys.

As we were waiting in the traffic circle for the remainder of the boys, Sammy suddenly bursts out of his seat and exclaims, "I feel like there is an earthquake in my bottom!"  He dashes out of the van.  The other boys are killing themselves with laughter.  I am laughing and a bit amazing that this child was one that I bore.

The ride home was one with constant chatter and craziness.  I was going to the grocery store near our house.  As I reached our street, I stopped and said, "Sammy, why don't you walk home."  (I was thinking that perhaps he would burn off the extra energy that was oozing out of him).

He replies,"Only if you make me!"  Cockiness was all over his face.

(The problem is that the older boys easier can overpower me physically... so I am forced to be creative).

I answered, "Tyler, I will pay you $20 to put Sammy out of the van."
Sammy immediately answered, "No need," and was out and off on his adventure.

I drove to the grocery store, praying the whole while that Sammy wouldn't get kidnapped during that time.  It is quite a walk from where I dropped him off to our house.  There are also a lot of hills.

I was quick, in and out and we were on our way.  The boys were trying to text Sammy with a message of "How does it feel to be a hobo?" but there was no answer.

As we drove, there was no sight of him.  Great... the lesson seemed to be on me rather than him.  We drove all the way home with no sight of him.   The snow and wind had picked up and there were drifts everywhere.

Zach was just running in the house to see if he somehow made it home before us when a van drives behind us.  One of our neighbours saw him and thought it was to yucky for him to be walking.

He ran into the house looking quite pleased with himself.
Bummer!  Who learned the lesson? Sigh!

The Gift

Today I spent the day with an incredible child/young man.  He looked like Sammy, smelled like Sammy and even dressed like Sammy.

I haven't seen this child in a long time.  I really liked him!!!

I had a great day with him.  I love this kid.  Of course I love him all the time but I really enjoyed him.

Zachary loves his oldest brother and wants to be just like him.  Of course there is the little factor that they are very much alike in so many ways.  Sammy finds Zachary copycat behavior highly annoying.  Today, though Sammy gave Zach the greatest present.  He hung out with him and treated him so nicely!

Sammy was at the mall with a friend for a bit this morning.  While there, he shopped for Zach and bought him a present.  I was blown away by his thoughtfulness and especially since he spent his own money!!!  Then he chose to have lunch with us instead of going to his friend's right away.  (Sammy is off for the next few days due to exams).  At lunch he ordered exactly as Zach did in honor of his birthday.

Zach had a great day ... yet it was made extra special by this child of mine!
I am so proud of Sammy.  I am so glad to have spent this day liking him every minute.
I am so proud that he made choices today that is telling of the wonderful young man he is growing up to be!
I love you, Sammy!!!

Pictures to post as soon as I get Sammy to help me download off my phone.
